What it does

What can teachers and students do here?

Teachers set, share, test and record; students submit, read, attempt and ask. Here's each piece and the plan it comes in.

  • Daily progress reports

Teachers note what each class covered, on the web or the staff app. Principals and admins read them on one page, comment and export to PDF or Excel.

  • Progress notes

Record how a student is doing and rate it Excellent, Good or Needs improvement, on the web or the staff app, and attach a file on the web.

  • Student questions

Students ask a question under a subject from the web or the app, and teachers answer from either.

  • From Gold

    Homework and assignments

Set a topic, the question, a submission date and an attachment for a class. In assignment mode, students reply in writing, with a file or both, and get marks and a remark.

  • From Gold

    Study material

Share notes and files by class, category, subject and section. Teachers can upload from the staff app; students read on the web or in the app.

  • From Gold

    Timed quizzes

Set the date, start and end time, total and pass marks and the sections that take it. Students see the time left as they work through.

  • From Gold

    Single and multiple answers

Each question has one right option or several, with its own marks. A multiple-answer question scores only when every right option is picked.

  • From Gold

    Quiz results and reuse

Each attempt gets a result PDF with the student's answer and the right one for every question. Clone a quiz to run it again.

  • From Platinum

    Learning portal

Build topics by class and subject from files, images, audio, video files and links, in your own order, and see how often each is opened.

How it works

How does a week of homework and quizzes run in ProEMS?

Here's a typical week for one class and subject, from Monday's lesson to Friday's marked quiz.

  1. 1

    Teach and log it

After class, the teacher writes the day's progress report on the web or the staff app.
  2. 2

    Share the material

The teacher uploads the chapter notes to study material, where the class opens them on the web or in the app.
  3. 3

    Set homework

The teacher adds an assignment with a worksheet attached and a date to submit by. Students hand in an answer, a file or both from their login.
  4. 4

    Review it

The teacher goes through each submission, gives marks if it's an assignment, and adds a remark to every one.
  5. 5

    Run a quiz

On Friday a timed quiz opens for the class. Students answer on the web, and ProEMS marks each attempt the moment it's submitted.
  6. 6

    Follow up

Questions students ask under the subject reach the teacher, who also records a progress note for anyone who needs extra help.

Can students take online tests in ProEMS?

Yes. Students take timed quizzes from their login on the web: each quiz has a date, a start and end time, total and pass marks, and a clock showing the time left.

Questions can have one right answer or several, each with its own marks, and students can mark a question to come back to. ProEMS marks the quiz as soon as it's submitted and shows pass or fail against the pass mark. If the clock runs out first, the student is told time is over and asked to submit. Quizzes come with the Gold plan.

What's the difference between homework and assignments in ProEMS?

It's one setting for the whole institution. In assignment mode each piece of work carries total and pass marks; in homework mode it doesn't, students don't submit an answer, and every student in the class gets an entry the moment the work is set.

Either way, the teacher attaches a file, sets a due date and adds a remark for each student. Students find it under Homework or Assignments in their login.

What is a daily progress report for teachers?

A daily progress report, or DPR, is a teacher's note of what a class covered that day; in ProEMS it's written per class, section and subject, on the web or in the staff app.

With the syllabus on Platinum, topics the teacher ticked while taking attendance can flow into the DPR instead of being retyped. Principals and admins read every DPR on one page, add comments and export them as PDF or Excel.

Can teachers upload study material from their phones?

Yes. Teachers upload files to study material from the ProEMS staff app and can remove them there too, and students see them on the web and in their app.

On the web, material is organised by class, category and subject, shared with one or more sections, with several files in each. For notices and messages to families, see the communication page.

Good to know

What are the limits of homework and quizzes in ProEMS?

Four honest points, so teachers know what to expect in the first week.

Homework and quizzes are on the web
Students see homework, submit assignments and take quizzes from their login in a browser. The app carries study material, questions and results.
One file each way
A teacher attaches one file to each piece of homework, and in assignment mode each student can attach one file to their answer.
Multiple answers are all or nothing
A question with several right options scores only when the student picks exactly those options.
Progress notes stay with staff
Students and parents don't see progress notes. Use the messenger or class news to share feedback with home.

Which plan includes homework and quizzes?
Homework, study material and timed quizzes come with the Gold plan. Daily progress reports, progress notes and student questions are in Silver, and the learning portal is in Platinum.
Do quizzes mark themselves?
Yes. ProEMS marks each quiz when the student submits it, adds up the marks for every question answered correctly and shows pass or fail against the pass mark.
Can students submit homework from the app?
No. In assignment mode students submit from their login on the web, where they can type an answer, attach a file or both. Study material and questions are in the app.
Can a quiz be reused for another section?
Yes. Clone the quiz, change its date, times and sections, and switch it on. The copy starts inactive, so nobody sees it before you're ready.

Files, images, audio, video files and links, each with a label and a position, grouped into topics by class and subject. The learning portal is in the Platinum plan.
