For parents

Know how school went before they're home.

With ProEMS, parents get the school app and a web login. You'll know your child was marked present, see the class news and photos, check results and fee receipts, and message the teachers, without waiting for a note in the school diary.

In short

What can parents see in ProEMS?

Parents see their child's attendance, results, school and class news, photo albums, the school calendar, the fee structure, the school's bank details and their fee receipts, and can message the principal and the staff who teach their child's class.

There are two places to look. The app covers the everyday things: messages, photos, the calendar, news and fees. The parent login on the web has the fuller records: attendance details, the attendance report and results. Attendance and news also arrive as app notifications on Android, so on most days you don't have to open anything.

Parents don't pay fees online. The app and the parent login show what's due and what's been paid; online payment is made from the student's login on the web.

A working day

What does a school day look like for a parent on ProEMS?

For a parent on ProEMS, a school day is a handful of notifications and the odd message, with the web login there when you want the full picture.

  1. 09:00

    Marked present

Within the hour of the register being taken, an app notification on Android tells you Aarav was marked present in 7-B.

  2. 11:30

    Friday is a half day

The class teacher posts it as class news, and it reaches your phone as an app notification within the hour.

  3. 13:00

    Science fair photos

The album is up in Photo Album, with the morning's photos uploaded from the teacher's phone.

  4. 16:15

A question for the class teacher

Ask about the English test Aarav missed in Message. The reply comes back in the same thread, so the conversation stays in one place.

  5. 18:00

    A missed period

If the school takes attendance period by period, you get a notification for any period your child was marked absent, with the subject and time.

  6. 20:30

    Term 2 fees

Open Fee in the app for the term's fee structure, the school's bank details for a transfer, and receipts for what's already paid.

  7. Sunday

    The fuller picture

On the web, open Result for the half-yearly by session and term, and Student Report for attendance day by day with the total and percentage.

Can parents pay school fees in the ProEMS app?

No. The app shows parents the fee structure, the school's bank details and receipts for what's been paid, but it doesn't take payments, and neither does the parent login on the web.

Online payment is made from the student's login on the web, through the school's own payment gateway, and the receipt then shows up in the app. You can also pay by bank transfer to the account shown in the app, or at the school counter. See what students see for how the online payment works.

Where do parents see results and attendance?

In the parent login on the web. Result shows your child's results by session and term, Attendance Details lists each day and period with P, A or L, and Student Report gives the attendance total and percentage for any dates you choose.

Day to day, attendance comes to you as an app notification on Android, so the web login is for when you want the whole term in front of you, say before a parent-teacher meeting.

How do parents get into the ProEMS app?

Install the app, enter the organisation code your school gives you, then sign in with your email and password. The code connects the app to your school, so you only ever see your own school's news, photos and records.

The same app serves staff, students and parents, and it opens on the parent view when you sign in as a parent. The school can tell you your login details if you don't have them. Our guide to school and parent communication explains how schools usually roll this out.

What if you have more than one child at the school?

One parent login covers them. On the web, Attendance Details lists each child by name, and your Messenger contacts include the staff of each child's class.

In the app's Fee screen you choose which child's fees, bank details and receipts to look at.

Something else on your mind? Bring it to the demo and we'll answer it there.

Do parents pay for the ProEMS app?
No. The app is included in the school's plan, so there's nothing for parents to buy or subscribe to.
Will I be told if my child is absent?
Yes, through an app notification on Android. Within the hour of the register being taken you're told whether your child was marked present, absent or on leave, and schools that take attendance by period also send an evening notification for each period missed.
Can I message my child's teacher?
Yes. Messenger, in the app or on the web, lets you message the principal and the staff who teach your child's class, and keeps each conversation in its own thread.
Where do I find my fee receipts?
In the app, under Fee, along with the fee structure and the school's bank details. Receipts for online payments made from the student login appear there too.
Is there a different app for every school?
No. It's one app for every ProEMS school. The organisation code you enter on the first screen connects it to your school.
