Admit card

An admit card is the document a candidate takes to a board exam. At CBSE, and at CISCE going by a 2026 news report, schools download it from the board's portal and give it to students.[1, 2]

In ProEMS
An applicant admit card in Admissions (Platinum plan), and a student admit card from Subject approval (Gold plan).

Who issues an admit card, and how does it reach the student?

The board issues it, and the school hands it over. CBSE's circular for the supplementary exams of 28 July 2026 says regular students' cards are in the school login on CBSE's website. Schools download them from “Pariksha Sangam” and issue them to students after the principal has signed and stamped them.[1] Private candidates download their own from a link in the circular, and can get the card signed and stamped by the principal of the last school they attended or by the centre superintendent.[1]

CISCE works the same way, going by a news report on the 2026 ICSE exams. It says only school authorities can download the cards at cisce.org and that students collect them from their school heads.[2] CISCE's own Public Services FAQ points the same way. It tells candidates who appeared after 2017 and need a duplicate admit card to contact their school,[5] and the fee sheet lists ₹750 for a duplicate admission card.[6]

What does an admit card show?

It depends on the board. The report on CISCE's 2026 ICSE cards lists the candidate's name, roll number, the exam's name, centre details, reporting time, schedule and instructions, plus the school stamp, seal and principal's signature.[2] CBSE's circular doesn't list what its cards show.[1] CISCE's own Public Services FAQ refers to a candidate's Index Number or Unique ID, and we couldn't confirm what the report means by “roll number”.[5]

How is an admit card different from a registration card or a nominal roll?

A CISCE registration card is a separate document. Its older FAQ says the Principal downloads it through the CAREERS portal, attests it and hands it to the student, for example when the student applies to move to another school.[7] That FAQ's footer says 2022, so check whether the process has changed. A nominal roll is a list of many candidates, where an admit card is for one. The Uttarakhand Board's page for its 2026 entrance exam keeps the two as separate files.[8]

Can ProEMS issue admit cards?

Yes, in two places. The Admissions module has an admit card for applicants, alongside an emailed form link and confirm or cancel. That is in the Platinum plan. The Subject approval screen, built for colleges, also produces an examination form and an admit card for each student once their exam subjects are approved. That is in the Gold plan.

Board-exam admit cards for CBSE and CISCE come from the board's own portal, as above, and ProEMS doesn't replace that step.

FAQ

Questions about Admit card

Short answers. The sections above have the detail and the sources.

Can a student download their own CBSE or CISCE admit card?
Not for regular candidates, going by the sources we read. CBSE's circular puts regular students' cards in the school login, and a 2026 news report says only school authorities can download ICSE cards. CBSE private candidates can download theirs from a link in the circular after submitting their credentials.
What if a CISCE admit card is lost?
CISCE's Public Services FAQ says candidates who appeared after 2017 can contact their school for a duplicate admit card, and its fee sheet lists ₹750 for a duplicate admission card. Ask the school how it handles the request.
Does a CBSE admit card need the principal's signature?
Yes, according to CBSE's circular for the 2026 supplementary exams. Schools issue the card after it is duly signed and stamped by the principal, and private candidates can get theirs signed by the last school's principal or the centre superintendent.
